A critical skillset and respected qualification
Project management is a core skillset and a booming industry. Current research points to competent project managers as being “critical enablers for delivering strategic outcomes for organisations.” (KPMG, 2018)
Focussing on strategic (systems) thinking, adaptive management and leadership, the program supports rapid capability uplift across all aspects project management. It also provides a full suite of generic project management tools and templates, applicable to any industry or technical domain.
During facilitated training sessions, participants alternate between learning modern project management concepts, processes, tools and techniques, and applying these on a case study project in small teams. In the weeks following each training module, learners apply their project management knowledge and skills on a work-based project. Our dedicated team of assessors provide guidance, support and detailed feedback following each of the four Module Assessments, aligned with the project life cycle.

Dual qualification and AIPM certification
On completion, learners receive the nationally recognised qualification BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management.
Learners also receive automatic certification with the Australian Institute of Project Management as a Certified Practicing Project Professional (CPPP).


In-Person Mode
2 x 3-day face-to-face training blocks

Live Online Mode
12 x 4-hour onine workshops
Leveraging a flipped-classroom approach, the theory is learned at a time, place and pace of your choosing using our video learning platform Ecademy. This means that online sessions are action packed workshops followed by lively discussions.

Module 1: Initiating and Planning Projects
Develop an understanding of what project management is and have your existing knowledge formalised.
Initiating a project including linking to corporate strategy and long-term outcomes
Developing a practival project management plan that gets everyone on the same page
Define scope and define critial path of a project and develop a scheule
How to collaborate and get buy-in from team members and stakeholders
Identify, prioritise and learn practical technicales to engage and influence stakeholders
Module 2: Building and Leading Teams
How to review and evaluate project performance
Capturing lessons learned in the Closure Report
Mencken Madness simulation to bring it all together in a fun and informative capstone assessment

Course Details
Duration
Learners complete four Module Assessments over a period of typically 9-12 months, depending on their individual circumstances and time constraints. This is about half of the standard timeframe for a Diploma qualification due to our pre-requisite that learners have at least 1 year of experience working on projects.
Flexible delivery modes
In-person mode features 6 days of classroom-based training (2 x 3-day blocks). Online mode features 12 half-day facilitated online workshops. Both modes are supported by our on-demand video learning platform Ecademy (ecademy.net.au) and online support from our dedicated team of assessors.

Entry requirements
To be eligible to enrol in this course, learners must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) check to determine LLN support needs
- Have at least one-year experience working in a project context, managing some part of a project

Award winning training
The Diploma program was customised for Thales Australia by integrating organisational processes, tools and templates in assessment tasks; involving managers in on-the-job application of new capabilities; and guest presentations from the PMO and internal SMEs.
The entire program was converted for online delivery in response to the coronavirus pandemic at the start of 2020 and delivered with fantastic feedback from students, their managers and business stakeholders, with a 100% completion rate.
The program was recognised as a Finalist in the Australian Defence Industry Awards for Best Training & Mentoring Program of 2020.
