Diploma of Project Management
Whether you're a professional project manager or simply a professional with projects to manage, our flagship professional development program provides the knowledge, skills, and mindset to set you up for success.
A critical skillset and respected qualification
We are in the midst of an industry-wide transformation toward sustainable, flexible, project-based ways of working. It is standard practice to use project management frameworks as a means of delivering infrastructure, implementing strategy, developing products, achieving complex outcomes, and generally getting stuff done.
Organisations across the private and public sectors need professionals who can deal with the complexities that mark modern projects and deliver them in a structured, collaborative, and adaptive manner. The benefits are clear, with a recent study finding that organisations that invest in project management skills delivered 60% more successful projects, for 21-times less cost.

Course Structure

Stage 1
The Science of Project Management
Stage 1 focusses on the knowledge and skills required to deliver fit-for-purpose products, services and results, on-time and on-budget. Training sessions alternate between learning technical terms, concepts, processes, tools, and techniques, and applying these on a case study project.
Following each training session, learners transfer their new knowledge and skills to real, work-based projects. Documents from the case study and work-based projects are then submitted in four Module Assessments. Following each submission, learners receive detailed feedback from our team of dedicated assessors.
Stage 1 culminates in the gamified simulation Mencken Madness. Set in the 1960s New York advertising sector, the simulation brings together everything covered in the course so far, and puts learners' project management skills to the test in a fun and thought-provoking learning experience.

Stage 2
The Art of Project Leadership
Stage 2 focusses on the Art of Project Leadership. Training sessions in this stage cover a broad range of topics related to the psychological, social, and political aspects of project leadership - "the people side of projects."
The focus here is on critical interpersonal skills, behaviours, and mindsets essential for success in today's complex delivery environments. These include communication, team building, persuasion and influence, emotional intelligence, and more.
Complementing the broad-but-shallow approach taken in training sessions, is a deep-and-personalised dive into three self-selected leadership capabilities, supported by personal & peer coaching sessions.
Personal coaching sessions 'book-end' Stage 2, while structured peer-coaching sessions provide ongoing support as learners apply the practical actions identified with their leadership coach.

Block Mode
3 x 2-day in-person training blocks
For in-house groups only (closed groups of 12-25 people), this mode immerses learners in blocks of face-to-face learning, as they work through the interactive activities and discussions in a buzzing training room.

Staggered Mode
12 x 4-hour hybrid training sessions
(online or in-person)
This mode involves weekly half-day sessions attended either face-to-face or online, providing choice and convenience and slotting easily into a busy work-week.
Course Details
Duration
Learners complete four Module Assessments over a period of typically 9-12 months, depending on their individual circumstances and time constraints. This is about half of the standard timeframe for a Diploma qualification due to our pre-requisite that learners have at least 1 year of experience working on projects.
Flexible delivery modes
Block Mode features 6 days of classroom-based training. Staggered Mode features 12 half-day facilitated online workshops. Both modes are supported by our on-demand video learning platform Ecademy (ecademy.net.au) and support from personal coaches and our dedicated team of assessors.
